Mini House 2...Coming Along Quite Nicely

Wes has almost completed the construction of Mini House 2. I am not a fan of the access to the second floor bedrooms because I have a hard time decorating from the top down, but this structure looks crazy good. Plus, that great room with the stairs--yowza! I would like to get my hands on that space. I'm anxiously awaiting to see the catwalk/bridge and second structure. Hmm...the purchase is quite quite tempting, but where to put it?

  1. crazy good! I agree! Love this and similar houses. Perhaps we have to go to a more small scale to put all this nice houses in the bookshelve...
I hope you enjoy your new home, regards from germany

  2. Thanks Oese,
Yes, Perhaps 1:16/1:18 was the way to go in the mainstream. I wonder what prompted the change in common scale, etc. Hmm...

I am trying to enjoy the new home but nothing is as I would like. The home is tidy tidy with great views of the water and neighboring cities, BUT it is not decorated thus super bland which kills me. I have to work my frustrations out in miniature I guess. Smiles!

  3. oh MAN! This is the one I was waiting for - I agree the great room looks fantastic.

In my ideal home, as I've always told Husband, I would want a great/living room that is two stories with huge windows. Alas, I live in (non-duplex) apartment, so I too will have to fulfill my design wishes in mini scale.

  5. Rats! Here I am trying to build from scratch my own modern dollhouse and this guy comes along and takes me down a HUGE notch!!!! Oh well. Back to the drawing board! On another note, I am waiting (driving me crazy) for the shingles for my bi-level mid century modern. Done...except the roof! As soon as I get them and put them on, I will e-mail you the pics and let you post them if you would like! So very glad you are back. By the way, has he put a price on this one yet? Melissa

  6. Hey, thanks for the compliments. The size is large (30”Lx33”wx24”H) However, the rooms are very nice and spacious. The two story element is great with the gallery wall along the balcony railing for artwork, etc. In building this mini house2, I have been thinking of coming up with a smaller version. I love the design, and it seems to be very popular, so, I think a smaller version would be welcome, maybe just a one bedroom? Thoughts?

  7. Hi Melissa,
Uh oh! Is Wes stealing your thunder?? Smiles. He has not put a price on this house that I know of.

  8. Do you know how much it will be? thanks

  9. Uh oh, busted by Wes! HA!
I cannot say that I would want to scale back on any rooms for this house. It's a beauty. I do think it would be okay if the house were made 1:16 or 3/4 scale, course then I would probably have a hard time finding furnishings for the structure and the Lundby pieces would not do this dollhouse justice.

Hmm...I wonder if Paris would build 1:16 furniture...

  10. Great house! I love the sloped wall!

  11. Any word on pricing, Wes?

Folks keep asking via comments and email...

  12. I would prefer it in the 1:16 scale of course! I agree with you on the Lundby furniture though. But Annina is currently making me a 1:16th scale sofa:) And hopefully soon the Minimii collection will come in that scale! But Paris' furniture in 1:16 would be fantastic!

  13. What about this for fans of the double-height great room but with limited room for displaying a dollhouse this big: a partial dollhouse ... like a stageset. The great room could be built in full with only doors, and maybe views, into the rooms beyond. It could be 50% or 30% shallower.

  14. Awesome. Do we know what the finishing will be on the windows?

  15. The price range for this will be a little higher than minihouse1 since it is larger and more involved to build, ($350-$399) hopefully it will be in the range that people will start to order...haha.

  16. Yes! Would love to know if Wes has plans to have this house (and others) available for purchase. Looks fan-freakingTASTIC!

    Must...put..cards...under...lock and key....

[will make do with sighing and wishing; bf just saw the pics and is groaning aloud and muttering 'we're running out of space'....]

  17. Does Elizabeth LePla make 3/4 scale?

  18. I love this house - any chance at all of Wes creating a) a slightly smaller version (even the 1 bed idea mentioned - almost like a half house module?) for those of us with not much space and several other houses already, b) a flat pack kit version that could be shipped to the United Kingdom? Changing the scale would mean stuff like the Reac chairs would be out of the question... but there is some good 1/24th stuff out there (thinks of ELFs 1/24th pieces)...

  19. Of course I would make some furniture in 1/16 and 1/18 scale. Build away Wes, I can take care of their furniture needs..........

And for all you space challenged collectors, keep your eyes peeled for a new PRD creation, a modern structure that mounts to the wall. They will be called M112 Sky Lofts. More details to come............

  20. That's awesome news -- will definitely be checking the PRD site for the wall module. That might be my solution (no floor space in the studio, but the walls are pretty bare..).

See Modern MC? Your blog totally rocks!!

  21. No prob Modern MC -- just like the old movie quote "if you build it, they will come." You made this blog, and we modern mini fans (and it more recently it seems, vendors to titillate our obsession) hath cometh. XD

Man, I can stare at the mini #2 for hours...

(still keeping her credit and check card under lock and key - till the M112 Skyloft becomes available...)
