The Plaid Floor Looks A Little Dicey

The plaid floor was selected with my old method of closing my eyes and flipping through random papers. I groaned when I opened my eyes but went forward with using it anyway. This method never turns out well for me so I have no idea why I keep using it. The walnut and brass credenza was the saving grace. Once I placed that piece, I softened a bit towards the pattern on the floor. Then I remembered that I had a set of dice that complemented the credenza...

The Goods: Chair is Peter Tucker; Sofa is MiniModernistas; Walnut and brass credenza is OneFortyThree/Logan Hendrickson; Ladder is Wright Guide Miniatures; Wood and brass dice tables are an off-price store find; Art above credenza is an untitled Rex Ray; Art above sofa is "Bangs" by David Choe; All accessories are MiniModernistas, Bozart Toys, DCWV, X10NY, Plan Toys, Voila Toys, Lundby and common hobby store finds.

  2. It's very effective! I like the tones, and the play of the shapes - square, geometric, softened by rounded edges and organic shapes too.

  3. Love the color scheme...and the corny title! Sucker for those! I also think Rex Ray needs to start outputting some mini-sized artwork!

  5. That floor is interesting, but I really like the yellow theme. The accessories really do the trick.

  7. Thanks Marisa,
It was a horror movie for me when I opened my eyes. Maybe next time I'll cheat and peek. Smiles. I've only seen Italian westerns but will add Italian horror movies. Weird is cool, lady!

Rebecca, your lovely description made me look at the scene again. I see it better now.

Hey Call Small, Thanks! And I am glad you dig my corny post titles. Ha ha! I do love Rex Ray art --plus, he's quite down-to-Earth. I do not know if I could afford any miniature art from him outside of the postcards. Maybe we could petition "beg" him...Smiles

Thanks Otterine, you make me blush!

Hi Hunky Dory! I would like to use more yellow in the future. It is a color that I typically shy away from. Thank you for the compliment.

Thanks Mini Dork! I do not know if I will try the roulette again. Ha!

  8. I love the midcentury modern feel. Those dice tables are cool. Thanks for your post. I will have to check back when I work on my 1970's House. ( its kind of on the back burner for now)

  10. Thanks Troy!
Please do share what you do with the 1970's structure. Is this an original build or a kit?

  12. Yellow is a colour I run away from, screaming. You've nailed it though. It looks sunny and chic at the same time. Where do you find the cute postes for your scenes? I need to pick me up some artwork =0)

  13. Thanks Pepper!
I buy the post cards from SFMOMA--the modern museum over here in San Francisco. I go there about every week. Oh! Pepper needs some artwork...hmm...wonder if it will just magically arrive in the mail to her...hmm...

  15. Very nice setting, everything matches harmonically, you really have a right view on modern style and there is a real interior designer in you.

  16. WoW! Thanks Miniatures By Natalia,
What a generous compliment. I just wish that real interior designer would come out and show themselves. It's very hard being possessed... Smiles! Thanks!
