The Art Of Joseph Scott: New8th Play House

Behold the Play House by New8th Furniture. I have to give mad props to Karin M. for this fabulous find. Please give her a round of applause.

Custom and handcrafted, this solid black walnut beauty was created by New8th proprietor Joseph Scott. The structure as shown here is 1:12 friendly, measures 16"L x 8"W x 8"T and costs roughly $350 plus shipping. Pricing is determined by the type of hardwood selected. Your choices are black walnut, beech, cherry, sycamore, red oak, red elm or Baltic birch plywood. Note that the Baltic birch plywood option is the less expensive option and lowers the price by about 10%. If you're like me and have to have stairs for the structure--that option is available. Want mini furniture? No problem. That option is available too.

Joe is also interested in bringing your custom designs to life and welcomes your inquiries. Simply email him at  joseph@new8th.com to get spec quotes.

  1. Nice! I wonder what motivated him to create this? Lovely! I must ask -- are you getting one??!

    1. I think he was commissioned to create one. Yes, I'm weak and so I have it on my list of items to acquire, but I'll probably ask him for a custom design. First, I have to get the modern farmhouse though. I'll be hanging on to his contact info...

  2. I was drooling when I saw your link from Karin to the pics. I'm so glad you contacted Joe to inquire more about the house. A custom house by him would be fab. I love the materials in this one and the pool, but a little too much outdoor space for me. I need more walls to keep the dust out. :D

    1. From what I can tell, he seems interested in exploring this realm so he would probably hook you up with more walls, etc. Yeah, the materials are droolworthy. He has that "thing"--the one that represents quality and excellent craftsmanship--like Paris. I think it is because they are both full-size or 1:1 furniture builders. It gives their work a seductive edge. Can I say "seductive" here? Chuckles.

  3. I'm with MD on this one. Lovin, the quality materials used but would need the anti-dust walls and windows. Hmm, custom built *rubs chin thoughtfully* Dagnabbit MMC, you'll have me broke in no time with all this temptation =0D

    1. Ha ha! I'm dancin' around with my pitchfork...it's a 1:12 pitchfork but I've got the moves to make it seem 1:1
