Sectional Relationships

I had a surreal experience this week. I got to meet Paris Renfroe live and in person. In short, he's cool. I'm sure nobody is surprised by that declaration. It's sort of (for lack of a better word) weird to meet someone in the flesh that you only know through text. I guess it was a little easier for me than it was for him since I knew what he would look like, etc. I give him total credit for not turning and running for the hills when I introduced myself. Chuckles.

We actually had a good conversation over tapas and sangria. The sangria definitely added a lot of color and laughter to our chatter. It's obvious that Paris has design talent and skill, but when you talk to him, you learn that he has a bevy of good ideas. Lucky for me, there were more perks than bottomless sangria at our meeting. He was kind enough to bring me a gift = the sectional sofa in the scene above. I have no idea how he knew I would appreciate something like that. You?
When it was time to say goodbye, I did contemplate kidnapping him and locking him in my basement so that I could do the whole Buffalo Bill "It puts the modern miniatures in the basket" thing, but I suppressed that impulse and just smiled and waved.

The Goods: Kitchen unit and sectional couch are PRD, bookcases are DHE, large display unit is a lipstick holder from The Container Store, chairs are REAC, table is Kitty Puppenmobel, bench seating is Momoll Legno. All accessories are Lundby, Playmobil, Mighty World, Bozart Toys, Mattel, Battat, Re-Ment, MegaHouse and Hallmark. The doll family is Silver Acorn.

  1. HOW COOL! It must have been a lot of fun to meet him and I am sure he was thrilled to meet you! I love the sectional gift, and the ways you section off the K House great room. I can be so challenging to do, I think, but looks great. I also got a very hearty chuckle from the Silence reference!!! I am sure many of us can relate to the humor!

  2. Ha! ha! Yeah, it was nice to meet the dude. True, that Kaleidoscope House great room can be a bear to arrange furniture in. I always struggle with it. Glad you got the "Silence of the Lambs" reference--but I totally was thinking it. The only thing that kept me from doing it was poor planning and a lack of an explanation for my spouse. Chuckles. That joke is so dark.

  4. Oh, I love this room.
And I think I love the story you told us too. But I am too tired to translate the words I do not understand. Will do that tomorrow morning.
    Thank you for sharing...

  5. Hi MC, Well done you, Paris Renfroe eh! Oh I do wish I could have been there. I would so love to meet you both. How articulate and tactful you are and sooo funny. I have a list of people I'd love to meet in my lifetime that includes yourself, The Artist 'PRINCE', Paris Renfroe, Miss Shumetta, and my hero Julie Mansergh the artist responsible for www.faeriesintheattic.com because you are all amazing. I can't wait to come to US and make my dreams come true. One day.

  6. Hi Elaine!
We would have loved you to have been there! Articulate? Tactful? Funny? Who is this stranger you speak of?? Ha ha! You're too kind. Yes, maybe someday we'll all meet in a magical event for modern miniatures only. Sigh.

  8. LOL Buffalo Bill!! And how awesome that you got to meet Paris himself! In the flesh! I admit that I would have the same urge to kidnap him and his minis, except I only have a half bath extra in which I could stash him. And he's have to share the room with the kitty's litterbox . . . eeeerm.

This was a breath of fresh air! From one thing to another (read: work and life) my houses are suffering terribly and I miss it so!!!!

  9. Hey Altera,
Yes, I was going to post that you and Petite Nouveau need to post some rooms but then I realized that I am often MIA too. I mean really, who am I to nag?? Oh, and I think Paris likes cats.

  14. How awesome, but I'm sure he must have been just as starstruck to have met you! I know who I would have preferred meeting :-)
The coach is really great, but perhaps a bit careless to let the Acornfamily have popcorn in it?

  15. Ha ha! Nah, Pubdoll, he yawned and checked his watch the whole time. KIDDING. However, I don't think he was "starstuck"--nor should he be. Too funny.
