A Traditional Mess

I was trying to see if I could blend an older period style of furniture in a modern setting...and it didn't turn out well. Ha ha! Oh well. I'll try again later.

  1. Whatever! I think it looks cool. Family should be more hard rock/edgy though. This one gives me ideas for my mini house.

  2. Thanks RocksAnne,

At least the kitchen is done, but I'm going to redo the dining area---probably go in a different direction.

Please share your inspired miniature room when it's completed.

  3. I thnk it can work, maybe if you spraypaint the wood of the Victorian furniture and recover the upholostry with something a little funky/ baroque? It could be kind of Anthropolgie.

  4. Oh yeah--Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters.

Hmm...I think if I spray paint it, I will go with a white distressed finish and reupholster with Union Jack fabric. Now, if I can only get around to it--ha ha

I'll have to revisit that idea certainly.

  5. Where did you get the settee? Your attempt is actually good--but I would venture a guess that you did not spend much time. I remember you saying that you don't plan, but just put furniture in, right? For not planning, this set-up still has an appeal. Hoping that you try again and do not become bored. I hate when you get bored and don't finish. Smiles.

  9. I love the idea of painting the wood. What if you painted it high gloss red and left the black upholstery? I'm all for the easy and quick way. You could even use fingernail polish.

  11. Hi Daffy!

Thank you. I find the furniture on ebay mostly. And I shop at the sites listed in the resources frame for some things too.
