I will be taking a brief vacation from this blog. I know I have a lot of emails to respond to and I really will answer all of them when I return.

Sitting In A Traditional Mess
Remember that “Traditional Mess”? Well, I turned it into a sitting room.

Dorm Life
Perhaps I should have waited to post these pics for the whole Back-To-School phenomenon that will occur in a couple of months. I could have taken advantage of that lame "BTS!" title. Oh well, guess I will stick with the lame "Dorm Life" title.

The Rabbit Hutch

I was going through a few random magazines when I came upon the International Playthings Furry Friends Hoppy Bunny. I'm not impressed with the toy, but the rabbit hutch reminded me of the modern modular dwellings that are used for additional living space. Fast forward a week later and I'm taking the structure apart (patient and gentle hammering to the four corners of the rooftop) to remove the wall that separates the hutch into a storage compartment and "bunny" living quarters. Once you remove the wall, it does leave a groove that can be covered with flooring and wallpaper, etc. Snip off the carrying handle, re-glue the roof and you've got yourself a modern roombox.

The Bathroom In The Attic
I had intended to include bath images with the 'Boudoir in The Attic' entry but I could not photograph this room well. It's one of those situations where you think if you take a break that somehow you'll acquire skills and be a master when you return to the task. Well, it's painfully evident that the break was, again, not very helpful for me. I cannot get this bathroom to photograph well. There's a lot of Plexi in the walk-in shower which reflects light or is completely invisible when you try to capture it in a photograph.
The vanity sink is made from a vintage Kitty Puppenmobel cabinet, a Re-ment platter and a miniature wind chime that serves as a modern faucet. The walk-in shower is a picture frame, parts from a Buffy The Vampire Slayer action figure set and another miniature wind chime. The chair is from Reac Japan. The accessories are from AG Minis, Re-Ment, Mattel, Irwin and Jazwares.

Momoll in The Kaleidoscope House
I wanted to use two of the Momoll sinks in this scene, but those that I have are too different from each other to work well together. I decided to use the Momoll dining table to complete the kitchen island. I've always admired the original kitchens in Eichler homes that had the dining table and cooking surface as one unit. Due to space, I couldn't put four of the Organic Armchairs at the table extension so opted for one of the Momoll dining benches instead that could be tucked underneath when not in use to maximize traffic flow.
The kitchen island, benches and bar are from the Momoll Legno sets. The chairs are from Reac Japan. The bar stools are from Lil Bratz sets. The shelving units are from Gotochi. The stove is from Streets Ahead Dollhouse. The dishes and kitchenware that are not from candy toy companies are from Mighty World sets. Other accessories are from Re-ment, Reutter Porcelain, Irwin and Mega House.

Boudoir In The Attic
Attics are often portrayed as gloomy spaces where memories and family secrets are stored to gather dust. They are also depicted as the site where ghosts and monsters allegedly roam. My childhood bedroom was in an attic. I remember it being a cozy space that wrapped around you in a womb-like or cocoon fashion. It was very peaceful, private and had generous light. Because of its vantage point, I could see practically everything going on in the neighborhood from the windows. Sometimes I miss that sanctuary.
The bed in this miniature scene is from the Momoll Legno furniture set, the lamps are from Plan Toys, the Jonathan Adler pot is from the Kaleidoscope House accessories set, the mirrored wardrobe is from Streets Ahead Dollhouse, the table is from AG Minis and the yellow Panton chair is from Bodo Hennig.

Rocket. I’m Taking A Rocket.
Yes, I really do keep singing Tracy Morgan's Astronaut Jones song every time I look at this miniature room. “I’m packing my suitcase. Hey, look out, Moon!…”
The platform bed and wall art are acrylic picture frames. The bedside light tables are also picture frames. The sculpture is from the Kaleidoscope House accessories. The ball chair is from Reac Japan. The chair and table are eBay finds.

The Plain Woods
This was another attempt to try and create some modern rooms using only the plain wooden furniture pieces that are manufactured for children's dollhouses. I didn't have enough "blank slate" type of pieces so I ended up using several regular accessories for the spaces. I actually like how the dining room turned out.
The living room has some wooden books on the table. The wooden books always make me chuckle for some reason--although I think it would be cool in real life to have wooden books as decorative pieces. Go figure.
