This is the latest design from Miss Schumetta. Ohh! It’s an absolute beauty! Keeping in mind that floor space can often be an issue for children and collectors, this townhouse dollhouse features detachable wings. The central tower can be purchased individually and one or both wings can be added as desired. This design is available in a variety of scales. Contact Miss Schumetta for more information.

The Highland by Artply is MIB on eBay
I’ve been contacted recently by several dozens of people looking for an Eichler dollhouse. Unfortunately, I have never seen an Eichler dollhouse. I believe you would have to commission or build a dollhouse that looked like an Eichler. If anyone has other information, please share.
The Highland, is probably the closest you can get to a mid-century modern style dollhouse in kit form. Granted, it’s no Eichler but it would work well decorated with mid-century modern décor. The dollhouse is currently on eBay and the bidding started at about $25. This is a relatively hard to find kit—especially mint in box. It typically doesn’t go over $325 in a bidding war. And now that I’ve said that…

Mini Studios
I was tinkering around last night with the Voila Dollhouse. I started putting in some small studio suites on each floor--the kind of dwelling where the living room is the bedroom, etc. I'm not finished with it as of yet. I keep utilizing my spare time with TiVo to catch up on the shows I missed last week due to project overload at my job. Anyway, above is what I took the time to photograph. I'm sure I will probably change it again before I am finished.

Casa Bella Dollhouse by Selecta...Discontinued?
I am under the impression that the modern Casa Bella dollhouse by Selecta is discontinued. The dollhouse cannot be found on the company's website and several online retailers who sell the item have marked it down. So---if you were looking to acquire this house for your children (present or future) or yourself, you should probably go forward. The dollhouse sold for about $150-$160 and is available on Moolka.com for $114.39 with free shipping. Hopefully Selecta will produce another modern dollhouse--and one much more modern than their Casa Rosa dollhouse that is still in production.
Update 10/12/08:
Dude, it is now $99.99 on Moolka.com!

A Traditional Mess
I was trying to see if I could blend an older period style of furniture in a modern setting...and it didn't turn out well. Ha ha! Oh well. I'll try again later.

An Aztec Walks Into A Dolls House Emporium
Aztec Imports has some new modern dollhouse furniture pieces for the kitchen. The pieces are a double oven cabinet, dishwasher, stove and fridge. The quality is roughly mid-level. Currently, there aren’t any other pieces to make a complete modern kitchen from the company. As seen in the picture above, you could use Aztec’s double oven cabinet with the Dolls House Emporium’s modern island. The handles on the island and oven compliment each other quite well. I think the “stainless steel” fridge would also work nicely.
I’ve failed to mention this before but the island from the Dolls House Emporium is slightly off scale. It seems a bit bigger than 1:12 and closer to 1:10. This works great in the case of the modern Aztec Imports furniture because they also seem slightly larger than 1:12. I typically have to use larger figures for any scenes with the pieces to keep everything in perspective.

Hotel...Yeah, I'm Not Going To Finish It
Well, I've decided to abandon the hotel design and go in a different direction. The pictures above show the incomplete design with figures.

Hotel In Progress...Do I Want To Finish?
This is the start of the hotel design, using many Momoll, Selecta and Voila Toys furniture pieces. I worked on it for about 30-minutes yesterday evening. I refuse to buy anything new to decorate it so am using everything that is already in my inventory. The above pictures show the mid-budget modern hotel that I somehow ended up with. The first 4 photos show the lobby and lounge, the last 2 show the restaurant and bar. I am attempting to finish this hotel design before I get bored with the idea but am already faltering...
